Kipchumba Murkomen, the Transport Cabinet Secretary, revealed on Friday, May 19, that police had launched an investigation into an incident in which a passenger was allegedly stripped aboard a Nairobi-bound matatu.
Murkomen stated in a statement that the police would handle the Meru Luxury shuttle case conclusively, with a report to be released in due course.
The CS made the revelation as Kenyans were outraged by the incident, photos of which went viral on social media.
“Investigations into this matter are ongoing, and I will provide an update to the nation soon,” Murkomen said.
According to reports, the passenger, who is thought to be deaf, was stripped after failing to pay the Ksh1,000 fare.
However, Sacco officials insisted that none of their employees undressed the passenger.
