Musalia Mudavadi Hands Over ANC Leadership to Lamu Governor Issa Timamy

Issa Timamy, Governor of Lamu, has assumed leadership of the Amani National Congress (ANC).

This follows the resignation of Musalia Mudavadi, who left the position to focus on his duties as Principal Cabinet Secretary.

ANC party officials pledged to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 General Election during the handover ceremony on Tuesday.

The party’s Secretary General, Simon Gikuru, expressed confidence that the party would be more successful in 2027 than it was in 2022.

“The political space and political market will be more friendly and fertile for ANC to thrive,” he said.

“Amani National Congress is here to stay, it will never fall,” ANC Chairperson Kelvin Lunani added.

“All parties expect us to be competitive in the political world going forward.”

The leadership also stated that plans were in the works to deliberate on the next steps by assessing the shortcomings in the August polls.

“We will soon be meeting all the party’s leadership and go for a retreat where we shall analyse what happened, what went wrong, and why we performed poorly,” Timamy stated.
