Several Kampala roads will be closed tomorrow as President Museveni celebrates his 79th birthday at the Kololo independence grounds.
The president’s 79th birthday celebration is being organized by a group of young people led by Hadijah Uzeiye Namyalo, the National Coordinator in the Office of the NRM National Chairman.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Traffic Police Commander, Senior Superintendent of Police, Godwin Arinaitwe, who released the traffic flow plan on Thursday afternoon, at least 100,000 guests are expected to attend the birthday celebration.
“We anticipate around 100,000 guests from various parts of the country.” “We urge the general public to be cautious while also adhering to traffic regulations,” Arinaitwe said.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan traffic police commander, there will be normal traffic flow from the Golf Course traffic lights to Acacia Avenue, but there will be a diversion around Upper Kololo Terrace, Elgon Terrace, and Lower Kololo Terrace, which will be closed to all motorists except VVIPs.
Those coming from Bombo road should use Old Kira road, Lugogo bypass, and park at KCCA grounds behind Shoprite, while those coming from Jinja should park at UMA show grounds, according to Arinaitwe.
Those coming from Prince Charles Drive will be diverted through Archer Road Junction up to Jinja Road Police Station before rejoining the main road, according to the traffic flow plan.
