Museveni calls Uhuru Kagame and Magufuli in bid to tame Covid-19 spread among truck drivers

Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday called his counterparts in Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania to come up with a common plan regarding truck drivers in response to the Covid-19 pandemic- By Prudence Wanza

Museveni took to Twitter to reveal that he had quite a long conversation with the Presidents of Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania in efforts to tame the growing numbers of imported cases in Uganda mainly from truck drivers.

“I had a very long discussion with H. E Uhuru Kenyatta and H. E Paul Kagame regarding truck drivers,” he said

Uganda has in the last few days recorded only imported cases of Coronavirus virus from the truck drivers in Busia, Malaba and Mutukula border points.

Museveni said that the President Kenyatta and Kagame had agreed to come up with a plan to curb further spread of the disease.

“President Kenyatta and President Kagame agreed that we can have a common plan for truck drivers.” Museveni said

He however hinted at speaking to President Magufuli of Tanzania on a different issue but did not reveal what it was.

“I also talked to H. E Magufuli on a slightly different different subject,” he said.

Tanzania has so far recorded 480 cases of Coronavirus, the highest in the region.
