Several students from Salvation Army Imusutsu High School were injured on Friday morning, August 8, following a road accident along the Kisumu-Busia highway at Sirwa Posta in Vihiga County.

The school bus, which was transporting students and teachers to Meru for the Kenya National Music Festival, reportedly lost control around 7 a.m. and overturned by the roadside.

The number of those injured remains unconfirmed, but reports indicate multiple casualties.

Footage of the accident showed the bus upside down with a broken windscreen, windows and damaged seats, depicting the extent of the damage.

Following the accident, a rescue team made up mainly of residents quickly arrived at the scene and began removing those trapped inside the wreckage.

The police arrived moments later, according to reports, and cordoned off the scene before assessing the situation, which had begun attracting crowds.
