A well-known local musician, Pius Muema Mulwa, has been given a new reason to smile after receiving a set of artificial teeth from Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr.
Mzee Muema, a resident of Kisau Kiteta Ward, lost his teeth four years ago, making it difficult to enjoy his favorite meals, including githeri.
However, during the World Oral Health Day celebrations at Nduluku Primary School, the governor announced that the musician would be fitted with new artificial teeth, restoring both his confidence and ability to eat comfortably.
Speaking at the event, Governor Kilonzo Jr. emphasized his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare for Makueni residents, highlighting the significance of oral health in overall well-being.
“Good oral health is essential to leading a healthy life. Today, we celebrate not just awareness but also action, ensuring that our people can live with dignity,” said the governor.
Mzee Muema, deeply touched by the gesture, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I never imagined I would receive such a gift. I am thankful to the governor for giving me back the joy of eating and smiling.”
World Oral Health Day, observed globally on March 20, serves as a reminder of the importance of dental care.
The event in Nduluku saw residents receive free dental check-ups and education on proper oral hygiene, reinforcing the county’s mission to promote better health for all.
