Mutilated Body of Missing Wajir MCA Yussuf Hussein Ahmed Discovered in Lake Yahud

The search for Wajir County’s Della Anole Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA), Yussuf Hussein Ahmed, has ended in tragedy as his mutilated body was discovered in the Lake Yahud area. Ahmed had been missing since September 13, prompting widespread concern and calls for urgent action.

The discovery of his body came over a month after his abduction, leaving his family and community devastated. Local witnesses reported that the body bore horrific signs of severe torture, including ruthless beatings and extensive burns.

Ahmed’s family positively identified the remains at a local morgue, which were found in a highly decomposed state, adding to the shock and grief of the community.

Eyewitness accounts described the body as being violently mutilated, with particularly disturbing reports that Ahmed’s eyes had been gouged out. Many locals took to social media platforms to express their sorrow over the tragic loss and demand justice for the slain MCA.

Despite the severity of the crime, police have yet to provide a clear comment on the investigation into Ahmed’s abduction and murder. On October 7, the High Court had tasked the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) with ensuring the safety of a key witness in the case, as concerns about witness protection emerged.

During a recent court hearing, Senior Superintendent of Police Justus Imaana reported challenges in gathering crucial evidence for the case. He stated that they have not yet obtained CCTV footage from the location where Ahmed was abducted nor from his pickup point. Imaana revealed that he could only secure two pieces of relevant footage and had made requests for further assistance from other entities, including Interface Pharmacy.

“I cannot be able to speculate which roads the two Prados took after the abduction,” he told the court. He noted that requests for data from the Internet Crime Complaint Centre (IC3) had been declined, hampering ongoing investigations.

Imaana emphasized that investigations are complex and constantly evolving, making it difficult to predict a timeline for resolution. “I haven’t reached that level to unravel the perpetrators,” he remarked, highlighting the intricate nature of the ongoing probe.

However, Ahmed’s legal representatives, including Danstan Omari and Law Society of Kenya (LSK) lawyer Hosea Manwa, disputed Imaana’s claims and have called for urgent action to expedite the investigation and bring those responsible for Ahmed’s death to justice.
