Frustrated by the lack of response from their elected leaders, residents of Mutirithia Village in Molo have taken matters into their own hands, repairing a long-neglected road themselves.Â
Despite numerous attempts to reach their Member of Parliament, Kimani Kuria, and their Member of County Assembly, the villagers’ pleas for assistance went unanswered.
Determined to address the issue, the community pooled resources to buy stones and other materials needed to repair the road.
Jacob Ochieng, a boda boda operator, highlighted the urgency of the situation, explaining, “The road has not been repaired for a long time. It is very bumpy, and even our clients complain of back pain.”
Residents expressed disappointment in their leaders, particularly MP Kimani Kuria, whom they have not seen since his election.
They questioned his absence, especially given the importance of the road, which serves as an alternative route to the heavily trafficked Mau Summit.
Michael Mutito, another resident, criticized their MP for failing to fulfill his promises to improve their lives.
He lamented that some leaders can only be found in entertainment joints, leaving the community to fend for itself.
The villagers are now calling on their leaders to wake up and take action to address the deplorable condition of their roads.
