Kenyans should resist voting in the ‘thieves and criminals’ that President Uhuru Kenyatta warned them about, according to Machakos governor Alfred Mutua.
Mutua believes that if that criminal is elected president, he will rob state funds.
“MWIZI NI MWIZI. A thief is a thief. Wewe na mimi tunamjua. Those asking President Uhuru who the thief is, well, the thief is revealed here!” he tweeted.
President Uhuru Kenyatta comments against unnamed “thieves and criminals”, who would water down his and his predecessor Mwai Kibaki’s legacy.
The President indicated that the kind of leaders Kenyans chose in the upcoming general elections will determine the fate of his and former President Kibaki’s legacies.
“Please don’t allow Mwai Kibaki’s 10 years and my 10 years to be destroyed by electing thugs and thieves,” Kenyatta said in his native Kikuyu language.
The comment has so far drawn sharp criticism from lawmakers close to Deputy President William Ruto.
It is not clear why Ruto’s camp is panicking, yet the President never referred to his Deputy by name.
Kirinyanga Governor Anne Waiguru who was sacked over the NYS scandals in 2016 has joined the wheelbarrow team.
Waiguru, who was inferenced by the media as an economic and political confidant of President Kenyatta has caused ripples in GEMA land over her dealings with Ruto.
She is a person of interest in an ongoing probe into a scandal involving procurement in the county.
Her defection to the DP camp has incensed the President’s inner circle.
