Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai says the police unit deployed in Laikipia has thwarted an attempt by bandits to torch an abandoned school.
Mutyambai said a multiagency security team foiled an attempt to torch Merigwiti Primary School following a security operation to flush out armed bandits in the area.
The bandits, who have invaded Laikipia Nature Conservancy have been responsible for over 15 deaths, and several homes torched.
Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i launched a sting operation targeting illegal firearm holders and called for the pastoralists to vaccate the conservancy.
