Mwangaza Woes Deepen As Meru County Assembly Rejects 7 Out Of Her 10 Cabinet Nominees

Meru County Assembly (MCA) members have rejected seven of the ten nominees appointed by Meru County Governor Kawira Mwangaza to serve on the County Executive Committee (CEC).

The MCAs only approved three of the CECs whose names had been submitted for vetting by the county boss, escalating the feud between the Governor and the County Assembly.

Only the CECs for Education, Public Service, and Finance were approved by the MCAs.

Governor Mwangaza, who is locked in a power struggle with the MCAs, will now have to go back to the drawing board and submit new names for vetting to the county assembly.

On Monday, however, she appeared to be ready to eat humble pie when she invited the MCAs to a Thursday ceasefire meeting.

The invitation came as a result of reconciliation efforts spearheaded by the Council of Governors, chaired by Ann Waiguru.

Governor Mwangaza stated in her letter to the MCAs that she is willing to discuss the issues raised by ward representatives, particularly the ward fund.
