An arrested Military imposter approached Court with false allegations that the arresting police officers stole from him.

Alex Barasa was arraigned in Court with allegations of impersonating a Military officer contrary to the law.

He appeared before Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi to answer the charges where he told the magistrate that the police officers took Ksh 15,000 from him.

The presiding magistrate ordered the public prosecutor to avail a recovery record of documents recovered from the accused person.

The prosecutor availed the same record before the court which confirmed that no money was recovered from the suspect and that his allegations were an attempt to divert the attention of the Court.

The suspect upon arrest presented himself as Alex Barasa, however, upon a search of his ID, it yielded a name of a different person namely Domokira Brian Chakasani.

The prosecutor told court that as the suspect appears before the court, they could not know whom he was. “his fingerprints have been taken to identify him, the state cannot proceed with the facts, we pray that the accused be remanded as investigations proceeds to identify him, considering the nature of the offense of impersonating a military officer”.

The suspect interjected by telling the court that the state waited until the last minute to bring allegations of disparities in his identification, therefore the court should proceed to sentence him.

The court ruled that the accused be remanded at Central Police Station and issued orders for the OCS Central Police Station to conduct an inquiry on the basis of the accused allegations to table in court on October 5,2022.
