The activist on New Year’s Eve, the day presumed to be his last day alive, was seen dancing with his friends and singing at a popular club in Eldoret.
According to those close to him, celebrated model and LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba later left the club with his friends for an unknown destination for a house party.
Chiloba’s decomposing body was discovered two days later in a metal box on the Kipenyo-Kaptinga road in Kapsaret constituency, Uasin Gishu County.
Police arrested a 24-year-old Nairobi-based freelance photographer yesterday on suspicion of involvement in Chiloba’s death.
As per Uasin Gishu County Directorate of Criminal Investigations officer Peter Kimulwa, the photographer arrived in Kimumu from Tamasha Club at 3 p.m.
He claimed there was a fight at the house that could have resulted in Chiloba’s death.
“Neighbors saw the man loading a metal box into a vehicle that was later discovered with the decomposing body stuffed inside.” Mr. Kimulwa said.
He went on to say that the police are hunting for two more people in connection with the murder. The photographer is currently at the Langas police station.
