Nairobi CBD Traffic Disruptions Expected as Police Issue Advisory Ahead of High-Profile Events

Motorists in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) should brace for temporary traffic disruptions following an advisory issued by the Kenya Police Service ahead of two major events scheduled within the city.

In a statement, police indicated that the disruptions are necessitated by President William Ruto’s planned address at City Hall and the ongoing Africa Urban Forum being held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

According to the advisory, a shared security perimeter has been established around the two venues, leading to restricted access on several roads within the CBD.

The move is aimed at ensuring the safety of attendees and the smooth execution of the events.

Areas expected to be affected include the Supreme Court/Parliament Roundabout, sections of Wabera Street adjacent to City Hall, and City Hall Way.

Traffic flow along these routes will be limited or temporarily halted as security personnel manage movement in and out of the designated zones.

Motorists have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, seek alternative routes, and strictly adhere to directions issued by traffic police officers deployed on the ground.

Authorities have assured the public that the disruptions will be brief and that all necessary measures have been put in place to minimise inconvenience while maintaining security.

The advisory comes as Nairobi continues to host high-level engagements that draw both local and international participants, necessitating heightened coordination between security agencies and city traffic management teams.
