The Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Nairobi Central Police Station, Samson Talaam, has been arrested after a day-long manhunt that ended in Eldoret, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed.
His arrest brings to three the number of individuals detained over the suspicious death of Albert Ojwang, a blogger and teacher who died while in police custody.
Ojwang’s death has sparked nationwide outrage, with many demanding justice and accountability from senior police officials.
DCI sources revealed Talaam switched off his phone and attempted to evade capture by fleeing the capital.
He was eventually located, apprehended, and handed over to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) for interrogation and further action.
The DCI says investigations are ongoing and more arrests are expected.
