The Nairobi City County workers called off their strike Monday evening following a court order.
Nairobi Staff Branch Secretary Festus Ngari and secretary Calvince Okello told the workers they had been retrained from continuing with their industrial action until July 8 when their case will be heard.
This follows a move by the County Government to move to court to stop the strike which had been called by the Kenya County Government Workers.
Among the issues cited by the union are persistent salary delays, failure to complete promotion of all eligible staff, unwillingness to finalise a pay rise negotiation, perennial electricity disconnections and failure to pay NHIF premiums and remit monthly deductions.
This grounded operations for the better day on Monday. This is not the first time City Hall staff are threatening to strike over delayed salaries.
In February, they downed tools for similar reasons among other issues. But the strike was called off after an agreement was reached between the union and Nairobi County officials.
