Nairobi Couple Implicated In Armed Robbery Case

A man and his wife have been pointed out as key suspects during a police identification parade as the key suspects in a violent robbery that left Mwananchi Credit Limited Director Dennis Mwombo Mwangeka severely wounded.

At the same time Elizabeth Wachuka Kibochi of Day Kio Appartments in Lavington Estate testifying in the case, expressed shock that a tenant he assisted to locate a Sh25million house to purchase was the main suspect in an attack that occurred seven years ago.

Ms. Kibochi identified before court Dishon Peter Mulinge alias Peter Kinuthia alias Swaleh Mulinge and his wife Emma Nyambura Wairimu alias Jane Wairimu Maina as the tenants she had rented a house two days before Mwangeka was attacked by robbers armed with two M-16 rifles and a mini-pistol.

“Are these the two suspects you identified at the Police Station the ones you had rented House Number B-10 on October 7, 2015,” defence lawyer Danstan Omari asked Ms. Kibochi.

“Yes, they are the ones. Mulinge introduced Jane Wairimu as his wife when he rented the apartment after paying rent at Family Bank of Sh160,000,” the manager answered.

At the police station, she said she successfully identified the two as they were familiar since Jane had dreads and Mulinge was towering and heavily built.

“Are there other special features that made you identify the two as the suspects who attacked Mwombo,” Omari asked.

“I had interacted with them previously so I had no problems in picking them from the three women and three men presented by police in the parade,” Ms Kibochi answered.

Ms. Kibochi was testifying in a case where Mulinge and his wife Jane are charged with violently robbing at gun-point Mwombo Sh80,000, a golden ring worth Sh150,000 and a wristwatch valued at Sh100,000 on the night of October 31 and November 1, 2015.

They have denied five counts of robbery with violence, being in illegal possession of two M-16 rifles and 33 rounds of ammunition.

The hearing resumes on August 7, 2023. They are out on bond.
