Government Shuts down The Nairobi Expressway

The expressway road will remain closed beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday.

The Nairobi expressway has been shut down after the end of its trial period.

The expressway road will remain closed beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday, according to a statement from Moja Expressway Company, the company in charge of managing the road.

“The trial period for the Nairobi Expressway, which commenced on May 14th, 2022, has come to an end. The road will now be closed from 9 pm this Saturday, July 30th 2022 until it is officially commissioned,” Moja expressway said.

The Nairobi Expressway was made available to the general public in May after President Uhuru Kenyatta permitted drivers to test drive it before it was formally opened.

Mr Kenyatta, at the time, said that the trial period would help the government asses the road as well as identify areas and sections of the road that needed polishing and improvement.
