Nairobi Expressway works to end this year — CS Macharia

The Nairobi Express Way project will be completed this year, Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has announced.

Speaking during a tour of the project by a Cabinet Committee appointed to supervise on development, Macharia said the project is 35 per cent complete, well ahead of time.
“This project is being constructed day and night to ease the traffic congestion to the airport”, Macharia said.

The 21 kilometer Mlolongo to James Gichuru project is being undertaken by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and supervised by the Kenya National Highways Authorit (KeNHA).

According to KeNHA Director-General, Engineer Peter Mundinia, the public-private partnership (PPP) model has proven to be a success in Kenya, with the Expressway being a perfect example.

The road project was launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta in October 2019.
