A prisons warden at the Nairobi Remand Prison has been arrested on suspicion of bringing bhang into the facility.

Tobias Mwanje, the suspect, was apprehended as he entered the premises on a motorcycle.

According to police, they were able to retrieve one hundred and one rolls of bhang, two packages of rizzler papers, five packets of roster cigarettes, and about 500 grams of bang wrapped in polythene paper after searching the carrier bag that was hanging on the left side of the motorcycle handle.

The suspect was led to the office of a senior officer for questioning.

During his interrogation, his phone allegedly rang, and a caller requested that the police return to the gate and pick up another parcel.

“A trap was laid and one Joshua Kala a male adult aged about 32 years was arrested and one hundred rolls of cannabis sativa (bhang) were recovered wrapped in a polythene bag,” the police report read.
