Nairobi Senator and UDA Nairobi Gubernatorial candidate Johnson Sakaja has been arrested.
Kamotho Adrian, one of Sakaja’s lawyers, said that the Senator was arrested by four DCI officers from his Riverside office where he had just finished a campaign meeting with the Kamba community.
According to reports, he was then driven to DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road for questioning. The reason for the arrest, however, was not immediately established, but reports indicated it was related to the alleged forged certificate.
The counsel team claimed they were denied access to DCI headquarters as the officers told them they needed permission from “above.”

This comes just hours after he dared the DCI boss George Kinoti to arrest him after being linked to international crime.
Sakaja challenged Kinoti to apprehend him on social media, claiming that he was in his Riverside office. He linked the arrest to threats and intimidation to keep him from the top county job.
“Threats of arrest and persecution by the state will not intimidate us or change the will of the people of Nairobi. Your office will not install a project on the people of Nairobi. My qualifications are legit and the relevant institutions have refused to play along with your games. Let the people decide.” He wrote.
