Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has announced a temporary water supply interruption that will affect eight major areas in Nairobi County on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
In a statement released on Thursday, October 2, Nairobi Water, in collaboration with the Athi Water Works Development Agency, informed its customers of an essential maintenance exercise scheduled to occur from Friday, October 3, 2025, at six o’clock in the morning through Saturday, October 4, 2025, at eight o’clock in the morning.
The water supply interruption aims to facilitate the interconnection of the Kigoro-Gigiri-Kabete water pipeline at the Gigiri Pumping Station and Reservoirs. Once completed, this essential upgrade will ensure improved water distribution across the affected zones.

The water company has urged residents in the affected areas to use stored water sparingly during the interruption period.
This is not the first time Nairobi residents have faced water supply challenges. In August, technical difficulties along the Kabete–Kibera–Lang’ata pipeline disrupted water distribution in multiple parts of the city, causing several estates to experience water shortages.
During that incident, areas including Lang’ata, Kibera, Kilimani, Lavington, Westlands, and Parklands were affected. Other zones, such as Riverside, Kileleshwa, the University of Nairobi campuses, and estates along Ngong Road and Lang’ata Road, also experienced disruptions. Major institutions including Nairobi and Kenyatta hospitals were among those affected.
The water utility assured customers that its technical staff would work to ensure the completion of the current maintenance exercise within the stipulated timeframe to restore regular water supply across all affected areas.
