A 33-year-old man believed to be behind a major illegal phone operation was arrested in Naivasha following a successful police raid.
Peter Mburu was apprehended at his electronics shop in Sera Center Building, where detectives caught him in the act of flashing several mobile phones suspected to have been stolen. The operation was based on intelligence reports received by the police.
A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of 27 assorted mobile phones, an HP laptop, and a mobile phone flashing kit—commonly used to wipe device data and conceal ownership.
Police say the tools point to a well-established racket targeting unsuspecting phone owners and reselling tampered devices on the black market.
Mburu is currently in custody at Naivasha Police Station and is expected to face charges in court soon.
Authorities have urged the public to be vigilant and avoid purchasing mobile phones from unauthorized dealers, warning that buying stolen items could result in prosecution.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover other individuals linked to the syndicate and recover more stolen property.
