The Nakuru County government has dismissed allegations that it has neglected essential services, accusing Senator Tabitha Karanja Keroche of orchestrating protests to tarnish its reputation. County Secretary Dr. Samwel Mwaura claimed that recent demonstrations in Olenguruone, Kuresoi South, were politically motivated and aimed at discrediting Governor Susan Kihika’s administration.
“There is a clear political agenda behind these protests. We are committed to delivering services to the people of Nakuru, but some individuals are bent on creating unnecessary tension,” stated Dr. Mwaura.
His sentiments were echoed by a section of Nakuru County Assembly members who criticized the senator for allegedly undermining the county’s development agenda.
Mosop Ward MCA Dr. Alex Langat and Nominated MCA Leah Serem accused Senator Keroche of focusing on attacking the governor instead of collaborating with county leadership.
“It is unfortunate that the senator has chosen to politicize healthcare issues instead of working with us to find solutions. Her remarks are only meant to create unnecessary political tension,” argued Dr. Langat.
However, Governor Kihika’s administration has faced growing criticism from residents, particularly regarding the state of healthcare. Concerns have been raised about inadequate medical supplies and poor service delivery in public health facilities.
Senator Keroche recently spoke out about the challenges in maternal healthcare, accusing the county government of neglect and mismanagement.
Her comments have sparked debate, with some leaders accusing her of using the issue for political mileage.
Despite the accusations, the county government maintains that it is committed to improving healthcare services and other key sectors.
Dr. Mwaura urged leaders to avoid politicizing development issues and instead work together to address the needs of Nakuru residents.
The political tension between Senator Keroche and Governor Kihika’s administration continues to escalate, setting the stage for a potential showdown as both leaders fight for public support.
