Nakuru Government Trains ‘Askaris’ To Fit New City Status

Nakuru County Government enforcement personnel have been instructed to act with the utmost professionalism and honesty when serving the public.

The County Minister for Training and Public Service Management, Jacqueline Osoro, said much is expected of them, especially as Nakuru approaches city status, while closing training for a second group of officers undertaking training to improve their performance.

“Cities around the world are more diverse, as they attract communities of different nationality, faith and ethnicity so officers must be professional and ethical and act in an expected manner,” she said

She also said more trainings will still be conducted to help them interacting with a variety of people, including customers, visitors, employees, tenants, and the general public.

The department Chief Officer Paul Githinji reiterated Osoro’s sentiments that with coming city status, all eyes are on County security team being frontline persons.

” As Governor Lee Kinyanjui’s administration endeavours to meet requirements for elevation, our department will continue streamlining enforcement team to the desired standards,” he said

He also praised officers who have acquired various trainings saying besides being key in their career progression, assessment will be done for further redeployment to where they are more suitable.
