Nakuru Health workers issue strike notice amid COVID-19 nightmare

The Kenya Medical and Practitioner and dentist union, Nakuru chapter has issued a 21-day strike notice to the county government of Nakuru if their claims are not acted upon.

Through the KMPDU Sec general Davi Atellah the union says that they have tried to have talks with the county government but their efforts have borne no fruits.

The secretary-general stated that the strike notice was due to a number of reasons which include, Contraction employment, release coronavirus pandemic allowances, failure to remit NHIF deductions.

The health workers also complained about not being promoted for over 10 years, victimization of the doctors and shortage of doctors leading to burn out.

The workers have vowed to down their tools until their grievancies are met.

Despite their notice to the county, the Health Ministry has urged the workers to seek consensus with county governments in order to save the health docket from crippling during the pandemic.
