Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama has filed an appeal against the decision of the Anti-Corruption Court to sentence him.
Arama was fined Sh1.5 million or serve a six-year jail term over an Sh60 million land fraud.
Arama wants the High Court to overturn the ruling rendered by Senior principal magistrate Victor Wakumile, who convicted him for graft.
Justice Esther Maina today directed Arama’s advocate Kelvin Onyango to file the record of appeal within 14 days so that the Prosecutors can respond and have the case fixed for hearing.
The matter will be mentioned on December 7, 2022 to confirm filing of the documents.
MP Arama was found guilty of abusing his position and authority by fraudulently acquiring plot Nakuru Municipality Block 6/95 and evicting Muhammad Nisar Ahmed.
He was sentenced alongside former Nakuru Lands Registrars John Muiru Mwaura, Daniel Kimori, and Charles Onyambu Birundu.
The three were fined Sh 1 million each or sentenced to prison terms ranging from four to five years.
