A murder suspects has been sentenced to serve 28 years in prison after cutting a deal with the prosecution over the offence of a first-degree murder of four victims in Nakuru.
The suspect, Evance Kebwaro Michori appeared before Nakuru High Court where he admitted to having been a member of serial killer group operating within Nakuru Town.
He pleaded guilty to the June 21, 2022 murder of four women at Mawanga area in Bahati Sub-County.
The learned Judge proceeded to sentence him to serve 28 years in prison as an accessory after the fact to the murder.
The convict, Michori, is one of six suspects implicated in a series of murders in the Mawanga area of Bahati Sub-County, Nakuru County, on June 21, 2022.
He will now testify as a prosecution witness against the other five accused persons.
The murders, which took place on June 21, 2022, in Mawanga, Bahati, prompted an extensive investigation, leading to the arrest of six suspects.
The six suspects were formally charged on August 2, 2022 with four counts of murder in the Nakuru High Court.
Michori would later confess after intensive interrogation to being a member of the Confirm Gang- a criminal gang that was operating within Nakuru and its environs.
He also admitted to the murders of four women, whom the gang robbed and left to perish in their burning homes.
His confession was substantiated by additional forensic evidence meticulously gathered by investigators.
Following the collection and presentation of this evidence, Michori’s defence team negotiated a plea bargain agreement with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in Nakuru.
The court accepted the plea deal on November 14, 2024, resulting in Michori’s 28-year sentence for being an accessory after the fact of murder.
He will now serve as a prosecution witness, providing crucial testimony against his five co-accused persons.
