Nameless mourns death of his father

Kenyan musician David Mathenge, popularly referred to as Nameless, is in mourning following the death of his biological father, Mzee Joshua Mathenge.

In a heartbreaking Instagram post, the popular Kenyan singer broke the news to the world, celebrating the late Mzee Joshua for being a great dad.

“Rest well, daddy. I am blessed beyond measure to have had you as a father,” reads Nameless’ post.

The singer undoubtedly had a close and great relationship with his dad, whom he did not hesitate to celebrate and share news about on his social media handles.

Four years ago, Mzee Joshua underwent a successful head surgery after spending 10 days in the hospital, and the singer gratefully celebrated the news.

“Just a gratitude post!! Behind the scenes, my dad has been in the hospital for about ten days to undergo head surgery because he had some blood clots in his head that caused some minor strokes, a condition called subdural hematoma (something like that).

“Wahu, his wife and fellow celebrated musician, also honoured her late father-in-law with a loving tribute.

“An amazing father in love. We thank God for the full life, your warmth, wisdom and everything that you were. Until we meet again. Rest with the angels, Dad.”

The couple, who have been married since 2005, are among Kenya’s most respected music figures and are known for often sharing glimpses of their family life with fans.

The news has drawn messages of condolence and support from fans and fellow artists alike, who continue to send love to the family during this difficult time.

Radio Personality Tallia Oyando consoled Nameless with the comment, “Sending love always” while award-winning artist Bien wrote, “Pole Bro.”

Music collaborator Kristoff, film director Philip Karanja, stylist Brian Babu and actress Nancy Wanjiku, better known as Shix Kapienga, also shared their messages of solidarity and condolences.
