Namwamba: I Will Resolve The FIFA Ban on My First Day

Ababu Namwamba, the nominee for Sports and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary, has promised to lift Kenya’s current FIFA suspension if his nomination is approved by the National Assembly Committee on Appointments.

Namwamba stated during the vetting process at Parliament Buildings on Friday that he will call FIFA President Sepp Blatter on his first day in office to bring Kenyan football back to life.

“On my first day in office, I will contact Fifa President Gianni Infantino to discuss the ban on Kenyan football,” Namwamba said.

Fifa suspended the country in February after outgoing CS Amina Mohamed disbanded the Football Kenya Federation in November of last year.

Since February, the country has been suspended by Fifa after outgoing CS

In November of last year, Amina Mohamed dissolved the Football Kenya Federation.

After an investigation revealed financial irregularities at the FKF, Sports Minister Amina Mohamed formed a caretaker committee to run Kenyan football in early November.

As the committee took over the running of Kenyan football, FKF officials were soon locked out of their offices, and Mwendwa stepped down at the end of the month.

Fifa is now demanding that Mohamed reverse her decision to appoint a caretaker committee, as well as that control of the FKF offices be returned to a federation.

In a firm response to the committee’s tough questions, Namwamba stated that he is familiar with the issues at hand.
