Napoli were crowned Serie A champions after defeating Cagliari 2-0 at home, rendering Inter Milan’s win over Como irrelevant in the title race.
Goals from Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku secured the victory for Napoli, who entered the final round just one point ahead of Inter.
McTominay scored a spectacular overhead kick just before halftime, converting a cross from Matteo Politano.
Shortly after the break, Lukaku extended the lead by muscling past a defender and finishing confidently past goalkeeper Alen Sherri.
The final moments at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium were pure celebration, with fireworks, smoke, and flares filling the air as fans rejoiced.
Coach Antonio Conte, who missed the match due to suspension, was instrumental in building the championship-winning squad.
He had pushed for the signings of McTominay and Lukaku, and now joins elite company as the first manager to win Serie A titles with three different clubs: Juventus, Inter, and now Napoli.
Reflecting on the achievement, Conte expressed pride in his players: “This is a special group. Winning in Naples isn’t easy, and these boys have done it for the second time in as many years. They always give their all.”
Despite Inter Milan’s 2-0 away win at Como—with goals from Stefan de Vrij and Joaquin Correa—the result wasn’t enough.
Even a man advantage couldn’t close the one-point gap that handed Napoli the title. Inter now redirect their energy toward their upcoming Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Had the two teams finished level on points, a playoff would have decided the title. But Napoli did enough to seal their triumph outright.
