Napoli Join Roma In Cristiano Ronaldo Chase

According to The Athletic, Napoli is interested in Cristiano Ronaldo, who has asked to leave Manchester United and has been linked with Roma.

According to Times Sport, the repeat Ballon d’Or winner told Manchester United that if a suitable offer arrives this summer, he wants to be allowed to leave, owing to the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.

The Athletic reports that Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Napoli are all interested in signing the Portuguese legend, following reports that Roma had made an offer.

While Napoli has an advantage over Roma in that they are competing in the Champions League this season, a move to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona is still extremely unlikely.

He only left Serie A last year for Juventus, Napoli’s archrival, while Napoli has also been implementing cost-cutting measures to reduce the wage bill.

As a result, they have allowed Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens to leave as free agents, and Kalidou Koulibaly could be sold if he refuses to accept a pay cut.

All of these factors combine to make the idea of Napoli covering Ronaldo’s salary seem implausible.

One possible source of funding for the transfer is that Napoli is the only major club in Italy that produces its own jerseys.

They could thus keep all of the profits from shirt sales instead of splitting them with a kit sponsor.
