Narok Central police chief Fredrick Shiundu Kinaibei was arrested after preliminary investigations revealed that he had lost his firearm due to negligence on Wednesday.

A senior police commander has been arrested after an attack that led to the loss of his official firearm in Narok.

Narok Central police chief Fredrick Shiundu Kinaibei was arrested after preliminary investigations revealed that he had lost his firearm due to negligence on Wednesday.

He is also expected to face charges of providing false information to a public servant in addition to the charge of negligently losing a firearm and ammunition.

Kinabei was rescued on Wednesday morning after being abducted and robbed of his firearm at his home in Narok County by armed criminals.

“They dumped him at Tipis area and was rescued by a watchman. He was not injured during the incident,” the police said.

The firearm was loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition of 9mm.

Kinaibei told his workmates that he was confronted by two armed men as he opened his gate at midnight on Wednesday, February 8.

According to police, he was forced into a Toyota Wish, the registration of which is unknown, and driven away in the direction of Mau Narok.

His wife called the police station to report that the senior officer had been kidnapped.

They rushed to his house and discovered that he had been abducted while opening his gate.

His car was discovered outside the gate with the engine running and his cell phone inside.
