The management of NHIF and the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) paid the Cabinet Secretary of Health Dr. Nakhumicha S. Wafula a courtesy call to discuss the ongoing restructuring process.

In accordance with the Kenya Kwanza manifesto’s goal of achieving universal health coverage for all, the Kenyan government is renaming the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) the National Social Health Insurance Fund (NSHIF) to ensure that Kenyans have access to high-quality, reasonably priced healthcare.

In attendance at the meeting were Eng. Michael Kamau, Chairperson of the NHIF, Jacqueline Mugo, CEO of FKE, and Peter Kamunyo, CEO of NHIF.

The management of NHIF and government representatives presented their ideas and approaches for reorganizing NHIF into NSHIF.

Kenyans will have access to high-quality, reasonably priced healthcare thanks to the NSHIF, which will also boost the efficiency and transparency of the fund and the network of healthcare providers it covers.

The FKE leadership affirmed their support for the government’s initiatives to provide all Kenyans with access to universal health coverage and proposed steps to guarantee that companies and employees are fairly represented in the new NSHIF governance structure.

In order to ensure that the restructuring process is implemented successfully, the chairwoman and CEO of the NHIF committed to collaborating closely with the government. They also emphasized the significance of public awareness- and education-raising activities.

The Cabinet Secretary congratulated the FKE management and the NHIF management for their dedication to enhancing the healthcare system of the nation.

The government’s commitment to achieving universal health care, which is a top objective in the Big Four Agenda, was reiterated by the speaker.

The stakeholders agreed to continue collaborating in the wake of the meeting in order to successfully implement the NSHIF restructuring process, which is anticipated to significantly enhance Kenya’s healthcare system.
