A 14-year-old girl who was reported missing a week ago was found slain and her body dumped in a sugarcane plantation, leaving Kuja village in Ndhiwa sub-county in mourning.
Lavinia Awuor, a Standard Seven student at Ariri Primary School, did not return home on Sunday, prompting her family to go in search of her.
However, they were shocked to discover her decomposing body on Sunday evening on a sugarcane plantation barely 500 meters from their home.
Awuor’s cause of death remained unknown, however, it has been discovered that she may have been murdered after being profaned.
She was reported missing on July 2, as she was on her way to the Oridi Trading Center.
The girl was meant to meet her father in the trading center, according to Chief Elijah Abuto of the North Kanyikela site.
She was supposed to be taken to one of their cousins, but he stated she never made it to the trading center.
“It appears that she encountered someone who stopped her on the street. The suspect(s) might have been concealing themselves in the area’s sizable sugarcane plantation.” Said the Chief.
