Ndia MP George Kariuki Defends Branding Donated School Uniforms

Ndia Member of Parliament (MP) George Kariuki, popularly known as GK, has defended his decision to brand school uniforms he donated with his name, insisting the gesture came from his personal finances.

Speaking in an interview with a local radio station, Kariuki clarified that the uniforms were not funded by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

“I used my own money to purchase those uniforms, not CDF resources,” he said.

The legislator explained that he decided to donate the uniforms after visiting a local school to commission a multipurpose hall and a new school bus.

During the visit, he was disturbed by the condition of the students’ clothing.

“I was touched when I saw children wearing torn clothes. That’s what moved me to help,” he said.

Addressing criticism over the branding, Kariuki defended the move as standard practice, noting that even international organizations label their donations.

“There is absolutely nothing wrong with branding. Organizations like UNICEF, World Vision, and Plan International do the same,” he argued.

He dismissed backlash from political opponents, describing it as unfounded and driven by politics.

“The criticism is baseless and politically charged. The beneficiaries themselves haven’t raised any concerns,” he concluded.
