NEMA has partnered with the Land and Environment Court DIvision to boost environmental conservation.
The partnership was mooted during the World Clean Up Day held at Diani Kwale.
During the exercise, Justice Edna Dena said environmental issues were of grave concern to humanity, hence the need to team up and save the environmental space in Kenya.
Justice Dena said the Judiciary has planted 3,500 trees in two days to boost tree cover.
She said environmental concerns were global, hence the need for every sector of the community to participate.
NEMA Chairman Eric Mungai said the authority will set aside one day every month to clean up the environment. The exercise will be coordinated by County Environmental Directors.
He urged Kenyans to stop littering their surroundings as if they have another planet to call home.
“We have to treat our environmental spaces the same way we treat our living rooms”, Mungai said.
