New Bible Translation Center Launched

The Bible Translation and Literacy (BTL) organization has opened a branch in Chuka town, with the goal of increasing public theological literacy.

The non-governmental organization, which has been housed by the Presbyterian Church for over seven years, has continued to assist minority communities in understanding the bible by translating it into their native tongue.

With the opening of the new office, the organization will be able to finish the bible translation in Kichuka and educate locals about biblical literacy.

While most bible translations take up to 15 years to complete, the Chuka branch hopes to finish the interpretation in less than seven years.

BTL National Director Rev. Peter Munguti praised the team in the county for their efforts in making the entire process a success during the opening ceremony of the offices.

According to Rev. Munguti, the Chuka translation branch was the first to finish three-quarters of the New Testament books in less than seven years, compared to ten years for other communities.

They were also the first to establish online tools for the scriptures, according to the director, who added that they had educators on the ground who teach people how to accept the Kichuka Bible.

He went on to say that the East African Branch is marking its 40th anniversary since its creation.
