Mohamed Amin, the new Director General of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, made changes at the agency on Tuesday after settling with a team to assist him in managing crime.
Amin restructured his team, naming Nairobi Area sleuth Said Kiprotich in charge of DCI Operations.
Margaret Karanja, the Director of Forensics, was appointed to lead the Anti-Narcotics Unit.
John Onyango, the DCI for the Nyanza region, was promoted to the position of Head of the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau at the headquarters.
At the same, Francis Wanjau, the DCI boss in Kisumu County, was promoted to lead the Rift Valley Regional DCI headquarters.
Bethuel Oburu, a Marsabit County Criminal Investigations Officer, was also promoted to lead the Central Kenya offices.
Abdallah Komesha, who was in charge of the National Centre for Counter-terrorism, was promoted to Head of Personnel at the DCI Headquarters.
Central region Criminal Investigations Officer Bernard Nyakwaka was moved to headquarters and named the director of complaints, railways head of DCI Wanderi Mwangi will head the planning.
Amin directed that the officers begin their new duties immediately.
The changes occurred in the midst of investigations into extrajudicial killings allegedly committed by rogue DCI officers.
During his inauguration, Amin promised to serve with integrity and professionalism while adhering to Kenya’s Constitution.
