A number of newly elected governors are expected to be sworn in on Thursday, November 25th.
The incoming county bosses were gazetted by the county secretaries of the selected counties in a gazette notice dated August 19, 2022.
Kajiado, Kiambu, Makueni, Baringo, Kirinyaga, Samburu, Kisumu, Kitui, Marsabit, Taita Taveta, Laikipia, Wajir, Isiolo, and Kwale are among the 28 governors elected.
Trans Nzoia, Tharaka Nithi, West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, Garissa, Turkana, Machakos, Mandera, Nyandarua, Vihiga, Kisii, Nandi, and Migori are the others.
According to the law, all newly elected governors must be sworn in 10 days after the IEBC declares them winners.
The law requires that the oath or affirmation be administered no earlier than 10 a.m. and no later than 2 p.m.
Similarly, it states that the governor-elect will be sworn in before a High Court Judge in a public ceremony.
The amount to be used during the swearing-in ceremony will be determined by each governor.
According to the Devolution Ministry, outgoing governors may receive a farewell package.
Unlike the Presidential election, where the President-elect cannot take office if an election petition is filed, the governors’ swearing-in ceremony cannot be halted by an election petition.
