COVID-19: Mombasa prevalence ranks highest in Kenya, as tally soars to 5,206

Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi has announced that Mombasa has the highest Coronavirus prevalence in the country – By Gerald Gekara.

In her statistics, the CAS also quoted Nairobi and Busia, as counties with the highest risk of getting the coronavirus.

So far, Kenya has recorded 254 new Covid-19 cases further taking the national tally to 5,206.

In terms of counties, Nairobi has 127 cases, Mombasa (36), Migori (29), Kajiado (22), Kiambu (12), Busia, (9), Uasin Gishu, (5), Muranga (3), Machakos and Kilifi, (2), cases each, Nakuru, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Garisaa, Isiolo, Kakamega, and Kisii reported (1) case each.

In Mombasa, the 36 cases are from ; Mvita (11), Jomvu (8), while Kisauni and Likoni reported (5) cases each. Changamwe recorded 4 cases.

All the positive cases are Kenyans, with 186 of them being males, while 68 being females. The youngest case is a four-year-old and the oldest 92 being years.

In terms of those turned negative of Coronavirus, 41 people were discharged bringing to 1823 the number of recoveries.

However, 2 more people died from the virus, raising Kenya’s death toll to 130.

The CAS also announced that majority of those who had died, had pre-existing conditions, mainly hypertension and diabetes.

CS Mwangangi further directed that tKenyans implement the said measures, to avoid exposing those with terminal illness.
