President William Ruto rang the New York Stock Exchange’s closing bell on Friday.
State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed said in a statement on Friday that Ruto would ring the closing bell later that evening.
People applauded as he rang the bell several times.
The ringing of the closing bell marks the end of the trading day.
Ruto also conducted a series of interviews with journalists at the New York Stock Exchange.
The bilateral talks will increase trade between Kenya, the United States, and other countries.
On his trip to the United States, the President was accompanied by first lady Rachael Ruto, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Trade CS Moses Kuria, and Foreign Affairs CS Alfred Mutua, among others.
Throughout his tour, Ruto urged the US to invest in Africa.
He urged the United States to rethink its economic partnership, shifting it from a trade destination for manufactured goods to an investment partnership.
He also urged the West to capitalize on Africa’s population and the opportunities provided by the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), that is set to a take off.
