NG-CDF is Coming In Full! Mbadi Tells MPs

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Hon. John Mbadi has assured Members of the National Assembly that both the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) and the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) will be fully disbursed by the close of the 2024/2025 Financial Year.

Appearing before the House to respond to Members’ questions, CS Mbadi stated that NG-CDF had been allocated Kshs. 68.2 billion, including Kshs. 13.56 billion in arrears. So far, Kshs. 27.5 billion has been disbursed, with the balance of Kshs. 40.7 billion scheduled for release in monthly Kshs. 7 billion tranches starting January 2025.

He admitted that January to March presented fiscal strain due to Kshs. 75 billion in loan repayments and Kshs. 80 billion in salaries, but reassured that school capitation had been paid in full.

Hon. Jack Wamboka and Hon. Musa Sirma urged the CS to ensure timely releases, noting the impact delays have on bursaries and education support. The Kshs. 7 billion monthly translates to roughly Kshs. 23 million per constituency.

Regarding NGAAF, initially budgeted at Kshs. 3.5 billion, later reduced to Kshs. 2.7 billion, the CS reported Kshs. 1.6 billion has been disbursed and the balance will be released within the month.

Speaker Moses Wetang’ula praised Mbadi’s transparency but called for improved timeliness in disbursements and restoration of NGAAF funding.

CS Mbadi emphasized Treasury’s commitment to grassroots development, pledging closer collaboration with Parliament to ensure service delivery.
