Nick Mwendwa Rearrested A Day After His Release

Nick Mwendwa, the former president of the Football Kenya Federation, has been arrested again.

Mwendwa was arrested on Thursday morning, just days after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) dropped graft charges against him worth Sh38 million.

Mwendwa was picked up from his Kiambu Road home and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for questioning ahead of his arraignment in Kiambu court, according to police.

It is unclear why the police made the most recent decision.

His lawyers stated that they were on their way to DCI to gather more information.

Mwendwa was charged with conspiracy to defraud the Federation of Sh38 million.

His trial, on the other hand, did not take off.

The case was scheduled for hearing on Tuesday, July 5, after several adjournments since December of last year.

It failed to proceed once more after the state requested another adjournment, claiming that it lacked witnesses.

The prosecution informed the court on Wednesday that they had yet to record witness statements before the case was dismissed. The state dropped all charges against Mwendwa after the presiding Magistrate of the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, Eunice Nyutu, denied their application for adjournment.
