A night guard stationed outside a laundry shop in Muthini area within Machakos Town has been found murdered.

The robbers broke into the laundry shop, taking away goods and valuables immediately after killing the night guard whose lifeless body, soaked in a pool of blood, was discovered outside the laundry shop.

Residents believe the guard struggled with his attackers before being killed, as his body bore multiple severe injuries.

They have criticized security agencies for their reluctance to address the presence of criminal gangs in the area.

Ibrahim Kiiti, an agitated resident, warned that if the situation continues, residents might take the law into their own hands due to the rampant insecurity.

Peter Nzioka, another resident, expressed his sadness over vulnerable Kenyans struggling to provide for their families, only to be killed while on duty by thugs. He pleaded with the police to unearth the perpetrators and bring justice to the family of the deceased.

Machakos DCIO Nzioka Singi arrived at the crime scene to collect data for the investigation. He assured residents that the authorities would not rest until crime is eradicated and urged them to report any perpetrators immediately.

The body was taken to Machakos Level 5 Hospital Mortuary.

The incident caused a traffic snarl-up along Machakos-Wote Road for nearly three hours.
