Nine people, among them three family members were last night killed in an accident at Rodi Kopany, Homa Bay County.
The lorry fell on a boda boda rider who had carried the family to their home.
The family, a father, a mother and their child died on the spot.
Kalanya Kanyango Fredrick Anyango blamed the poor state of the road as the main cause of the accident.
This was after a trailer carrying sugarcane overturned at the scene.
Police say they are investigating the incident.
Authorities have cautioned roadside traders to respect road reserves which serve to protect pedestrians from accidents.
Motorists on the other hand have been cautioned to be on the look out for emergencies at the busy area.
