Nine Killed In Russian Attack On Ukraine Bus

Nine people have been killed after a Russian drone struck a bus carrying workers in the Ukrainian city of Marchantes on Wednesday morning, according to local officials.

Serhiy Lysak, the regional head of Dnipropetrovsk, reported that at least 30 others were injured, warning that the number of casualties may continue to rise.

The attack comes as representatives from the UK, France, Germany, the US, and Ukraine gather in London for talks focused on securing a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict.

Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began on 24 February 2022, with casualties on all sides now estimated in the hundreds of thousands.

Despite a temporary 30-hour Easter truce declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin—and mirrored by Ukraine—both sides have accused each other of violating the agreement.

Last month, Moscow presented a lengthy list of conditions in response to a proposed ceasefire supported by the US and Ukraine. The US has since been engaging in separate negotiations with both Russia and Ukrainian-allied nations in hopes of brokering a lasting peace.
