Public Health PS Mary Muthoni says Kenya has not recorded any confirmed case of Ebola Virus Disease as of Saturday, May 31.

The PS says 18 samples collected from Ebola alerts in several counties, including Nairobi, Kiambu, Uasin Gishu, Nyeri, Nakuru, Nyamira, West Pokot and Kisumu, have all tested negative.

She noted that testing is currently being conducted at four designated laboratories, including the National Public Health Laboratory, KEMRI Nairobi, KEMRI Kisumu and a mobile laboratory in Busia.

Muthoni, however, said the government has identified 25 counties as being at elevated risk, with 12 classified as very high risk and 13 as high risk, as authorities intensify surveillance and preparedness measures across the country.

The very high-risk counties include Nairobi, Mombasa, Uasin Gishu, Busia, Kisumu, Bungoma, Trans-Nzoia, Siaya, West Pokot, Turkana, Homabay, and Migori. The high-risk counties are Vihiga, Kakamega, Nakuru, Kericho, Nandi, Kiambu, Machakos, Makueni, Kilifi, Taita Taveta, Isiolo, Elgeyo Marakwet, and Garissa.
