ODPP reaffirms commitment to axle load enforcement in Siaya stakeholder engagement.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has reiterated its commitment to supporting effective axle load management during a stakeholders’ engagement held at Amoyo Centre along the Bondo–Missouri road in Siaya County.
The forum was attended by Ms Joyce Mumu, Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions and Head of ODPP Siaya, alongside Hon. Nafula, Senior Principal Magistrate at Siaya Law Courts. Representatives from enforcement agencies and local stakeholders were also present.
Ms Mumu emphasised the Office’s dedication to working collaboratively with relevant agencies to ensure the lawful, fair, and consistent implementation of axle load control measures on roads under the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA). She noted that firm legal action would continue to be taken against offenders to protect public infrastructure and uphold the rule of law.
Participants were sensitised on key offences related to axle load violations, including overloading and failure to comply with weighbridge requirements. A practical demonstration on axle load measurement was also conducted at Amoyo Junction, enhancing stakeholders’ understanding of enforcement procedures and promoting transparency and compliance.
