No Waluke No Elections! Sirisia Protest Jailing Of MP

The High Court ordered Waluke to pay his Ksh 1 billion fine or surrender to prison to serve his 67-year jail term.

Residents of Sirisia Constituency in Bungoma County have taken to the streets to protest the imprisonment of their MP, John Waluke.

Irate residents accused the government of witch-hunting Waluke because of his political affiliation on Wednesday morning.

“The new government should not harass our MP.” This government received 70% of the vote in Sirisia. Our MP is not a thief; he was a businessman, and the investigation is a witch hunt.”

Residents staged protests and blocked the Lwakhakha-Sirisia Road with stones.

The High Court of Kenya upheld Waluke’s 67-year jail term on October 6 following the unsuccessful appeal after the same sentence was meted against him by the Milimani Anti-Corruption Magistrate Court.

The High Court ordered Waluke to pay his Ksh 1 billion fine or surrender to prison to serve his jail term.

True to the Court’s directives, on October 7, he surrendered to the Police at Milimani Law Courts.
